Synthetic materials
Synthetic fibres such as polyester, polyamide, acrylic and elastane are commonly used in modern garments to provide comfort, flexibility and durability. They are quick-drying and hard-wearing, but can release small plastic particles during washing that can end up in waterways and oceans. - Don’t wash unnecessarily – air or steam your garments between uses and spot treat stains to avoid unnecessary washes.
- Close zips and buttons before washing to reduce wear and tear.
- Fill the machine just right – avoid overfilling your laundry, it reduces friction that wears the fibres.
